This policy explains what information I Don't Eat That (“the app”, “we”,
“us”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. The app is run by Lucid Digital (Pty) Ltd, trading
as Digital Consulting, a company registered in South Africa. If anything here is unclear, email us at
info@idonteatthat.app.
This is a meal-planning app, not a medical or allergy-safety tool. The lists you keep are food
preferences. Do not rely on the app to manage a food allergy or any medical condition. Always read the label on
the food in your kitchen. See our
Terms of Use.
The short version
- Your family's lists live in your account so they follow you to a new phone. They are not shared with other users.
- We use a few trusted services to run the app — hosting, the AI cooking helper, voice, and subscriptions.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not show third-party ads inside the app.
- You can export or delete your data at any time.
What we collect
-
Your account. If you create one, we store your email address and a securely hashed password.
If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple gives us and, only if you choose to share it,
your name and a relay email address.
-
Your household. The names (or nicknames) you add for the people who eat with you, and the
foods each person avoids or dislikes. You choose what to enter — you do not have to use real names.
-
What you cook and save. Recipes you save, hide, or add, your pantry, and your weekly plan.
-
The cooking helper and voice. When you ask the cooking helper a question, we send that
question, the recipe you are cooking, and your household's lists to our AI provider so it can answer. When you
use voice, the short audio clip is sent to our speech-to-text provider and turned into text; we do not keep the
audio.
-
Your subscription. Whether you have an active trial or subscription. Payments are handled by
Apple — we never receive your card details.
-
Basic technical data. App version, device type and operating-system version, and error
diagnostics, used to keep the app working. We also count your monthly use of the AI helper to stay within your
plan's fair-use limit.
-
Feedback. If you send a bug report or a feature request, we keep what you wrote along with the
app version and platform, so we can act on it.
How we use it
- To plan meals around your family's lists and to run the features you use.
- To answer your cooking questions and transcribe your voice.
- To keep your data in sync across your devices when you have an account.
- To manage your trial and subscription and to enforce fair-use limits.
- To fix problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
- To measure how well our advertising works, so we know which campaigns are worth running.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, only to run the app:
- Supabase — database, accounts and hosting. Your data is stored on servers in the European Union.
- Anthropic — powers the cooking helper. Receives your question, the recipe, and your lists to generate an answer.
- Deepgram — turns your voice clip into text.
- Apple and RevenueCat — process and manage your subscription.
- Our email provider — sends account emails such as confirmation and password resets.
-
Analytics and advertising measurement. We may use tools from providers such as Apple and Meta
to understand how the app is installed and used and to measure our advertising. Where these use identifiers,
they are governed by your device's privacy settings, including Apple's App Tracking Transparency.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our
users or ourselves. We do not sell your personal information.
Children
The app is for adults. An adult account holder may add children as people in their household — a name and the
foods they avoid. Children do not have their own accounts and cannot sign in. If you add information about a
child, you are responsible for that information. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your household or your account, the
associated data is removed from our live systems. Backups and logs are held for a limited period and then
cycled out. Anonymous, aggregated statistics that do not identify you may be kept longer.
Your choices and rights
- See and change your data — most of it is editable directly in the app.
- Delete it — you can clear your household or delete your account from within the app. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Ask for a copy — email us and we will provide the personal data we hold about you.
- Notifications — the trial reminder is optional; you control notification permission in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK), the POPIA
(South Africa) or the CCPA (California). To exercise any of them, contact us at
info@idonteatthat.app.
Storage and international transfer
Your account and household data are stored in the European Union. The providers above may process data in other
countries. Where data leaves your region, we rely on the providers' standard safeguards for that transfer.
Security
Access to your household is restricted to your account at the database level, and third-party keys are held on
our servers, never inside the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your
information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top. Significant changes
will be highlighted in the app or by email.
